Roads
St Ives is well connected by roads. A new A14 road was constructed in 2020 a few miles to the south of the town.
To travel East to Cambridge or to join the M6 to Stansted Airport and London turn left on the A1307, which was the old A14 dual carriageway and join the A14 at Swavesey.
To go the West and the A1 and M1 motorways, turn right on the A1307 and
join the new A14 near Godmanchester.
It is just 15 miles south-east to Cambridge and less than 6 miles west to Huntingdon. Bedford and Peterborough are under 30 miles away. London is 75 miles due south, reached either via the A1 or M6 in under 2 hours.
